Assist. dr Ivan Milinković

Education:

  • 2007 – Graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade, with a GPA of 9.71.
  • 2011 – Completed Specialist Academic Studies at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade. Thesis: “Risk Assessment for the Development of Complications in Patients with Primary Dilated Cardiomyopathy.”
  • 2019 – Completed the Postgraduate Course in Heart Failure at the University of Zurich.
  • 2022 – Earned his PhD at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade, defending the dissertation entitled “The Impact of Sex and Age on Quality of Care, Morbidity, and Mortality in Patients with Heart Failure.”

Professional Experience:

  • Since 2009, Dr. Milinković has been employed at the Cardiology Clinic of the Clinical Center of Serbia.
  • He is a Specialist in Internal Medicine and serves as a Clinical Assistant at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade.

Professional Training:

  • 2010 – Completed a course in the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary hypertension at AKH Vienna, Austria.
  • 2010 – Completed a course in right heart catheterization at Kerckhoff Clinic, Bad Nauheim, Germany.
  • 2012 – Completed a course in the treatment of advanced heart failure in Bern, Switzerland.
  • 2017 – Attended the Heart Failure Association of the ESC Clinical Trialist Summer School in Cape Sounio, Greece.
  • He is certified in exercise stress testing and cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET).

Memberships and International Activities:

  • Since 2010, he has been a member of the Cardiology Society of Serbia.
  • Since 2011, he has been a member of the Working Group on Myocardial and Pericardial Diseases of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC).
  • Since 2011, he has been a member of the Heart Failure Association (HFA) of the European Society of Cardiology.
  • 2018–2020 – Member of the Cardiomyopathies and Structural Heart Diseases Committee of the Heart Failure Association of the ESC.
  • 2018–2022 – Member of the nucleus of the Heart Failure Specialists of Tomorrow (HoT) initiative of the Heart Failure Association of the ESC.

Scientific and Professional Work:

Dr. Milinković contributed to the development of the Serbian National Clinical Practice Guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of heart failure, as well as to the translation of the pocket editions of the European Guidelines for the Management of Acute and Chronic Heart Failure published in 2016 and 2021. He also participated in the preparation of the Heart Failure Association recommendations for the treatment of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, published in 2022.

He is the author of more than 40 scientific publications, including 19 original papers published in journals indexed in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR). Nine of these papers were published in top-tier M21a journals. His publications have a cumulative impact factor of 222, with more than 4,600 citations and an H-index of 16.

He has delivered more than 40 invited lectures at national and international congresses, including the Heart Failure Congress 2019.

Dr. Milinković is the co-author of seven chapters in national cardiology textbooks and one chapter in an international cardiology textbook. He also serves as a reviewer for the journal ESC Heart Failure.

He actively participates in international projects, including Peptides for Life, focused on the use of natriuretic peptides in acute heart failure, and HFA Atlas, dedicated to the epidemiology of heart failure across Europe.
